Our work
Boston Schools Fund (BSF) was a non-profit organization that advanced educational equity through opportunity and access to high-quality schools.
From 2014 through 2024, the BSF team woke up every day with one goal: increase the number of children in Boston attending a high-quality school. We accomplished this by providing capacity and resources for high-quality schools to expand and improve; sharing data and information; collaborating with families and partners; influencing policy; and committing to values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in our work.
BSF grew its portfolio of partner schools to include 51 Boston schools in the public, charter public, and parochial sectors. Through grantmaking, research and data analysis, and public policy work, BSF dramatically increased enrollment in Boston’s high-quality schools, representing over 10% of Boston’s children. In 2017, we designed, built, and launched Boston School Finder, a trusted online tool to navigate the complicated school enrollment process for more than 225 Boston schools each year. We worked closely with city and state leaders to ensure that Boston advances policies which expand access to high-quality schools for historically marginalized students.
Our Vision
We envisioned a Boston where every child, regardless of race, ability, income, or neighborhood, attends a high-quality school that meets their needs as learners and allows them to lead choice-filled lives.
